S:US is looking for an experienced Entitlements Specialist to support our Veterans' Services

About the Position

The Entitlements Specialist will be responsible for assisting very low-income Veterans and Veteran families who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless. In doing so, you will screen, assess, and follow-up with the participants in order to rapidly assign cases and address issues. The Entitlements Specialist supports veterans during every step of their benefits/entitlements application, recertification, and renewal processes as a means of maximizing income, accessing resources and care, and improving overall housing stability. 

About Veterans Service

The Veterans Services at S:US is one of the largest veterans' services providers in NYC. We serve the needs of veterans, many of which satisfy the federal guidelines for "very low-income," in order to help them rise above the greatest barriers to independence and a full community embrace. Our Veterans Services include Supportive Services for Veteran Families (SSVF) New York City and Long Island, education to employment, and employment services. 

Salary: $45,000 - $48,500 / year

Requirements

  • Able to provide proof of vaccination against COVID-19 virus
  • Experience working in the Homeless Shelter system / Veteran Services preferred
  • 2 years of experience in public benefits administration, homeless services, or combination of education and experience
  • Veteran or member of Veteran family preferred
